Agent: Why Pirates Player Has Been Missing

Agent: Why Pirates Player Has Been Missing

Orlando Pirates midfielder Goodman Mosele's agent Paul Mitchell has provided an update on his client, who has been missing from the squad.

Mosele has not been in the Pirates matchday squad for at least the last 11 consecutive matches in the DStv Premiership and also did not feature, not even on the bench, in the Buccaneers' Nedbank Cup run, where they completed the cup double with a win over Sekhukhune United in the final recently.

The 23-year-old initially had a positive start to the season, as he started the first six games in the league under new coach Jose Riveiro but things have not been the same for him since he got injured in the Soweto derby against Kaizer Chiefs in October last year, where Yusuf Maart scored the wonder goal from his own half to hand Chiefs a narrow 1-0 win.

The former Baroka midfielder's representative Mitchell of Siyavuma Sports Group, has provided clarity on his client's situation at Pirates.

"He had an injury, I think it was in the derby (against Chiefs). He has taken some time to come back and obviously you know you've got to fight for your place," Mitchell said on Radio 2000's Game On

"Pirates have been doing very well and it's not always easy to just go (back) straight in. But look, I'm confident in Goodman he will get a good pre-season into his legs and start the season where he left off before," he said.

"So that's where we are with Goodman," he added.

Pirates' signing of midfielder Makhehlene Makhaula from AmaZulu in the January transfer window has also seemingly contributed to Mosele not featuring as much as he did at the start of the season.

Makhaula and Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo were the preferred candidates off the bench by Riveiro, with Miguel Timm and Thabang Monare mostly starting in midfield in the closing stages of the season.
