Orlando Pirates' class of 2024/25 could have already made a lasting impression in the league that could go down to the last games for the first time in five seasons.
Sundowns have won the Betway Premiership for seven consecutive campaigns, however, the last four titles were won by a landslide, as it became a foregone conclusion midway into the seasons that the league crown was reserved for the Brazilians.
The Tshwane giants won the 2020/21 title with 13 points and the standards were raised in the 2021/22 term after they finished top by 16 points.
Masandawana continued to have no challengers for the title in the 2022/23 term after repeating the same feat, winning the league by 16 points.
The margin of the title victory was even bigger last campaign under former coach Rulani Mokwena, as the Brazilians won the league by 23 points.

With Pirates having narrowed the gap, Sundowns midfielder Teboho Mokoena has accepted the challenge and revealed that just like the neutrals, the Brazilians did not enjoy winning the league by such big margins.
"Honestly I'm very happy that Pirates is performing in this manner, because it really helps us as a team," Mokoena said on SoccerBeat YouTube Channel.

"It's not nice to win the league with 20, 25 points you know. Last seven games of the season you already know you've won the league, ah...
"So it's better to win it in the end, I think the feeling would be different compared to other seasons. It's very good for the league and it's good for us, also going to CAF (Champions League)," the Bafana Bafana midfielder added.
There is a possibility that the two clubs could meet each other in the CAF Champions League quarter-finals or in the later stages, should they progress from the last eight, as their rivalry has elevated also to the continental space.
