The Five Nedbank Cup Players To Look Out For In The Quarterfinals

The Five Nedbank Cup Players To Look Out For In The Quarterfinals

With just three matches to be played this weekend after Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila shocked SuperSport United on Friday night, Soccer Laduma looks at the five stars to look out for in the remaining quarterfinal clashes.

The Limpopo derby between Marumo Gallants and Baroka FC will kick off proceedings at Peter Mokaba Stadium at 15h00. Mamelodi Sundowns will host ABC Motsepe League outfit Summerfield Dynamos at Loftus Stadium at 18h00.

On Sunday, Royal FC will take on University of Pretoria at Chatsworth Stadium at 15h00.

Ahead of the fixtures, here are five players to look out for.

Ndabayithethwa Ndlondo - The Marumo Gallants midfielder has taken his game to another level under the tutelage of head coach Dan Malesela, getting into good scoring positions a lot more. He has come up with some important goals for the club in recent weeks and Baroka will need to keep a close eye on him to ensure he does not break their hearts.

George Maluleka - He has watched a lot of football from the sidelines this season, but Maluleka is slowly forcing his way into the Sundowns teams after his impressive performances in the side's last two matches against Swallows FC and Al Merrikh. He is able to contribute with both goals and assists, which means the Summerfield defence will have to work overtime to make sure they keep him quiet.

Deolin Mekoa - In Mekoa, Summerfield have a midfielder who knows what it takes to play against topflight opposition, so his experience will come in handy as they look to complete what would arguably be the biggest upset in the competition. Mekoa had a chance to join Sundowns in the past, but a deal fell through, so this is an opportunity to show what he can do against the big boys.

Mxolisi Macuphu - Since joining Royal AM from TS Galaxy in January, the lanky striker has been finding the back of the net regular. Royal AM are playing to his strengths, which as benefited him. He will be a handful for the AmaTuks defence.

Luvuyo Phewa - The AmaTuks midfielder, who is on loan from Sundowns, is having an impressive season. He has found the net nine times this season and has contributed with six assists.
