Royal AM coach John Maduka believes the only way to assess themselves is by playing against top team like Mamelodi Sundowns, as the two sides will battle it out for a place in the Nedbank Cup final.
The KZN outfit have a chance to make history by becoming the first and only KwaZulu-Natal team to win a Nedbank Cup in the PSL era, but will first have to eliminate the dominating Sundowns.
Besides having a few injuries, Maduka says his team is ready to face newly-crowned DStv Premiership champions and believes that battling it out with a team like Mamelodi Sundowns is a good standard of measure for the club.
"Firstly, let me congratulate Mamelodi Sundowns for winning the league, preparations have been going very well, even though we've been hit by an injury by Ricardo Nascimento, besides that, everyone is ready for selection," Maduka told the media ahead of the clash this weekend.
"We are looking good and ready for this big one. With the squad, we are confident that we can compete and get the results we want against the champions to check ourselves how good we are. You have to play with the best to match yourself.
"If you look at both teams, they play good football and we also want to play football, and make supporters happy. We want to focus on our game and not try to change our plan because we are playing against a top team like Sundowns. We just have to be disciplined and avoid what happened in the last encounter," added the coach.
