SuperSport United coach Kaitano Tembo has made a desperate plea, following the club's disappointing Nedbank Cup exit.
It was the typical David vs Goliath clash when Matsatsantsa took on Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila in the Nedbank Cup last eight.
Matsatsantsa with all their prestige and reputation as cup speciailiss were odds on favourites to topple their GladAfrica Championship counterparts; however, TTM pulled off a shocking come-from-behind victory to progress to the semi-finals where they will take on another topflight side in Marumo Gallants.
Its back to the proverbial drawing board for coach Tembo, who has seemingly issued a desperate plea to the club's management to reinforce in terms of experienced players.
"We want to win but at the same time we have got to see where the team is in terms of the playing personnel. Look at the bench, we only had young players to try and change the game, but it wasn't to be," a disappointed Tembo told the media after the game.
"Look at the last four games, we have gone from 2-0 down, which shows there is potential. We need experience in certain areas that we are really lacking," he added.
"I thought we didn't show a little bit of leadership and I think this is one game which we could have done better but you know when 90% of your team are young players, it becomes a little bit difficult. It's a lack of leadership, especially in the heart of the defence.
"It is disappointing obviously, but we've got no experience in the team, its only Ronwen [Williams] there and probably Bash [Onismore Bhasera] but in the heart of defence, that's where we had problems. They couldn't deal with [Rhulani] Manzini's power as well as Rendani [Ndou]. Hence, the long balls to the two strikers gave us a problem. We should have won those long balls you see even the first goal came from that. We didn't win the first header and from the second ball they scored. That's the challenge that we are facing at the moment."
There will be some respite for SuperSport, who are next in action against Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium on 16 April.
