MTN recently introduced a new incentive where players will receive R25 000 per goal scored in the MTN8 final, with Bradley Grobler scoring the only goal in SuperSport United's 1-0 victory over Highlands Park the final this past weekend.

While Gabuza just missed out on an added incentive, the player's great goalscoring form gives him an added advantage in contention for the MTN8 Last Man Standing accolade.

In light of all the action and goals we have seen in the competition that has passed, here are the players who were the highest scorers in the past five finals of the competition:

2018 – Bradley Grobler (SuperSport United): 4 games, 3 goals

2017 – Jeremy Brockie (SuperSport United): 3 games, 3 goals

2016 – Daine Klate and Eleazar Rodgers (Bidvest Wits): 4 games, 2 goals each

2015 – George Lebese (Kaizer Chiefs) – 4 games, 3 goals

2014 – George Maluleka (Kaizer Chiefs) – 4 games, 3 goals
