Despite having to first face Mamelodi Sundowns over two legs in the semi-finals of the MTN8, SuperSport United appear to have their minds already in the final of the competition for a third successive year.
Matsatsantsa have been in both MTN8 cup finals in the last two years. In 2017, Matsatsantsa won their final against Cape Town City, while the tables turned last year as the Cape side won, after the two teams met again in yet another nail-biting final.

However, Matsatsantsa will have to first go past rivals Sundowns in their two-legged semi-final for a chance to reclaim the trophy this year.
This weekend, the Tshwane outfit will host the Brazilians in the first leg at Lucas Moripe Stadium, with the teams set to return to the same venue on September 18 for the second leg to be hosted by the Chloorkop club.

Though some might see Matsatsantsa's Kaitano Tembo as counting his chickens before they are hatched, the coach seems to be confident that his side is ready to go all the away in this year's competition, starting with Downs on Sunday.
"On a personal level, I would love them (SuperSport players) to win something for the club because I believe that they are a good group of players and a bunch of good professionals. I think they also deserve to win something. This cup gives us an opportunity to do that. We've been to the final for the past three years," Tembo told the media this week.
