Pitso's MTN8 Final Prediction

Pitso's MTN8 Final Prediction

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says he's conflicted when it comes to picking a winner in tonight's MTN8 cup final.

On the one hand there is Owen da Gama, who Mosimane insists has defied the odds at Highlands Park, while on the other corner there is Kaitano Tembo, his former captain at SuperSport United and now the head coach of the same club.

The two coaches face off for the R8-million prize bonanza later today at the Orlando Stadium, and Mosimane explained why his loyalty was split.

"I like Owen, he took this team from the first division and straight into the Top Eight the next year when everybody was saying the team that got promoted is contesting for relegation. The drew against us, then against Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates also, that team is a well-oiled machine," Mosimane explained.

Tembo played for the Downs coach when he guided SuperSport to winning this competition, albeit under the SAA sponsorship in 2004.

"I want him to win his first trophy because it is always good. I don't like coaches being sacked all the time. Owen won't be sacked if he doesn't win the cup, but Kaitano will get a little bit of a cushion if he wins. So I lean a little bit towards Kaitano because we need to share – and he deserves it because they beat us in the semifinals and they also eliminated Bidvest Wits, let them win it. They had a difficult route," Mosimane said.
