The MTN8 tournament was launched at a glitzy venue in Hyde Park, Johannesburg on Wednesday afternoon – the sponsors unveiling eight legends and a few elements to the competition and dubbing them "owning the game".
Along with confirming the date when all eight teams will face off, the organisers also unveiled eight legends who will be brand ambassadors.

They are Benedict Vilakazi, Benson Mhlongo, Fabian McCarthy, Jabu Mahlangu, Joseph Makhanya, Josta Dladla, Katlego Mphela and Thabo Mooki and all were chosen by fans from a list of 20 legends that was then stripped down.
Among the new innovations, fans will also get to vote for their Man of the Match as well as the moment of brilliance.
The domestic competition kicks off on August 17, but the PSL is yet to confirm all of the times and venues. But the fixtures were confirmed at the end of the previous campaign, when the teams officially qualified by finishing in the Top Eight.
The big shock was Kaizer Chiefs failing to guaranteed their place in the tournament as they finished ninth.
Fixture list:
Orlando Pirates v Highlands Park
Mamelodi Sundowns v Bloemfontein Celtic
Cape Town City v Polokwane City
Bidvest Wits v SuperSport United
