It was an exciting opening 45 minutes with both sides attacking from the onset and chances on goal came thick and fast.

Letsholonyane came close to opening the scoring in the 18th minute when he struck the crossbar from roughly 16-yards out.

In the 29th minute Chiefs made their pressure tell when Maluleka superbly curled home a 24-yard free-kick, 1-0.

Stars tried to find their way back into the game and came close to levelling matters on the day in the 37th minute when a Robert Ng'ambi shot was dramatically cleared off the line by Tsepo Masilela.

Dikwena suffered a further set-back in the 43rd minute when Mduduzi Nyanda had to leave the field injured and was replaced by Marothi Diale.

The half ended 1-0.

Chiefs put the result beyond doubt in the 57th minute when Reneilwe Letsholonyane turned home a low left-wing cross from Tsepo Masilela to double the lead on the day, 2-0.

Stars tried to find their way back into the game, but were unable to breach the Chiefs defence.

The icing on the cake for the Amakhosi was their third goal in the 92nd minute, scored by Katlego Mphela, after controlling a Masilela cross on his chest before tapping home, 3-0.

The 5-0 aggregate scoreline now means Chiefs will meet Orlando Pirates in the final of the tournament on September 20.
