Back in December, SAFPU Vice President Tebogo Monyai informed the Siya crew that TTM players have been instructed to down tools in the Limpopo-based side's next match.
This comes after a prolonged battle for players to receive their salaries, despite the club's public utterances that players have been paid.
TTM are unable to register players after receiving a ban from FIFA and run the risk of a walk-over in their next fixture.
"The only way this type of behaviour can stop is when players put tools down to say enough is enough. We are no longer going to take to the field until our monies are paid," Monyai told the Siya crew.
"Since the club has been banned from signing players for the duration of three consecutive window periods, this is the right time to go on strike as the club will not be able to sign any players, whether amateur or whatsoever.
"So, they won't be able to honour any fixture and they will be dealt with by the league. They will be bringing the league into disrepute and the league will fine them almost R700 000 [per game] and they will be forced to pay as quickly as possible. I can tell you now, that SAFPU is on the verge of making this happen with the players going to January's game that TTM is supposed to play, I don't see that game taking place," he said.
Sign InNow, sources close to TTM have informed the crew that the players are yet to return to training and have threatened to boycott their next match, which is a Nedbank Cup tie scheduled for 6 January."Players have not returned for training since TTM's last game because they are still waiting to get paid. Their next game is on the 6 January," the source informed the crew. The Siya crew reached out to (TTM) team manager Azwi Phasha, who revealed that the players are in camp and that all of the clubs employees have been paid."Thank you for that, what I can simply say is those are just false news. We are in camp as we speak for our match tomorrow against All Stars for this complimentary game of the Nedbank [Cup] and we have all our training sessions, our last session is today in the afternoon. I don't know where all those rumours are coming from," Phasha told the Siya crew."Whoever wants to see with his eyes should come to the stadium, they are more than welcome. Our team is alive, our players are here, we have our squad. There isn't much that I can say about those rumours"Read: Maritzburg United Snap Up Top SensationYou must be Sign In to read and post comments.
