Cape Town Spurs 1-1 Polokwane City

Cape Town Spurs grinded out a 1-1 draw against Polokwane City in Friday's GladAfrica Championship action at the Athlone Stadium.

The host thought they had gone ahead early on through Abednego Mosiatlaga, but the offside flag went up though surged ahead regardless through a stunner from Colin Ryan.

Rise and Shine replied from the penalty-spot late on as veteran forward Puleng Tlolane tucked away from 12 yards out to leave the spoils shared in the Mother city.

Richards Bay FC returned to the top of the Championship table following a commanding 5-1 triumph over Platinum City Rovers on Saturday with a hat-trick from Sakhile Hlongwa.

However, Sibonginhlanhla Mthethwa got the ball rolling in the first five minutes before Hlongwa and Simphiwe Mcineka added to the equation.

Rovers pulled one back, but that didn't stop the Natal Rich Boyz continuing their dominant act as Hlongwa struck twice late in the second half to complete the visitors resounding victory.

University of Pretoria dropped back to second on the table after battling to a 1-1 draw against Cape Town All Stars.

AmaTuks entered the match on top of the table following their midweek win over Richards Bay FC, but were behind through Ndiviwe Mdabuka's finish in the second half.

The visitors replied minutes later when Wonderboy Makhubu executed a free-kick from Samuel Julies into the back of the opposing net.

Black Leopards continued to climb up the table as a 2-1 victory over Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC in the Limpopo derby earned them a fourth win on the bounce too.

A brace from Tiklas Thutlwa led Lidoda Duvha to maximum points after Naeem Amojee handed Vhadau vhadamani the lead, as the host saw Wiseman Maluleke dismissed late in the match.

Free State Stars weren't able to claim back-to-back wins after playing to a goalless draw against JDR Stars in Soshanguve.

After overcoming Jomo Cosmos in midweek, Ea Lla Koto targeted another win to edge closer to the top-three but could only draw and remained seventh in the process.

For JDR, it is their third successive draw which has seen them lose sight of third position on the Championship standings.

Jomo Cosmos reverted back to the basement of the GladAfrica Championship table after experiencing a 3-2 defeat against Venda Football Academy on Sunday.

It was level between the two at the break with Rudzani Thobo on target for Venda, who banked on other efforts from Tau Rankoko and Rotondwa Mutsivhuli to get the win and third spot.

TS Sporting moved off the bottom of the table through a 2-1 win over Hungry Lions FC at the Kabokweni Stadium in Mpumalanga.

Abantu Bemtheto drew first blood following the first half courtesy of William Nkosi before Lions levelled after the break only for Mohau Mokate to find the winner.

Pretoria Callies snapped a three-match winless run with the help of a 1-0 victory over the hard-running Uthongathi FC.

Callies lost their last encounter against Cape Town Spurs, while the Cane Cutters overcame Hungry Lions FC as the win leaves the host in the bottom-half along with Uthongathi.
