GladAfrica Championship Wrap

Platinum City Rovers endured their third successive defeat in the GladAfrica Championship on Friday with a 1-0 loss to Cape Town All Stars at the Olen Park Stadium.

Justice Figareido provided the winning strike that saw All Stars leapfrog Rovers in seventh spot from position eight.

Also, All Stars brought their four-match winless run to an end on the back of this clash in Potchefstroom.

Richards Bay headed to the top of the table with a 2-1 win over the University of Pretoria in a top-three encounter at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday.

Former AmaZulu forward Somila Ntsundwana continued his fine form with the lead in the first half before Luvuyo Phewa brought AmaTuks back level pegging.

However, with a draw on the cards the Natal Rich Boyz bagged the winner towards the closing phase of the match courtesy of Vusimuzi Mngomezulu.

JDR Stars, who hadn't won in their previous two matches, surrendered top spot after going down 1-0 to Free State Stars at the Goble Park Stadium.

Back-to-back draws have seen the Hammer Boyz narrowly hang on to top position, as Moeketsi Sekola 's second half finish this time revived Ea Lla Koto's title push and derailed JDR's in the process.

Jomo Cosmos continued to ease their battle against relegation as a 2-0 win over fellow strugglers Black Leopards came through at the Vosloorus Stadium.

This is on the back of Ezenkosi's maiden triumph last weekend against TS Sporting, with Themba Ndlovu and Sibusiso Zwane doing the business whilst successive losses see Leopards second-bottom.

Venda Football Academy extended their winning run to five matches following a 1-0 triumph over the struggling Pretoria Callies at the Thohoyandou Stadium.

The victory guided the host to third place, ahead of AmaTuks with the winner coming from Rotonswa Mutsivhuli late in the first half.

Uthongathi FC continued to lose ground with the front-runners through a 1- 0 loss at the hands of Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC.

Vhadau vhadamani finished the match with ten players following Frank Balaoyi's red card in the first half, but still collected all the points in the end.

Hungry Lions denied Polokwane City second spot in Sunday's action with a come-from-behind 3-1 victory at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Rise and Shine were up and running with the lead at the break, but Lions responded in style following the break with three quick fire efforts for the win.

Cape Town Spurs moved away from the bottom-three bracket on the standings with a 2-1 win over TS Sporting at the Athlone Stadium

Spurs were out firing through an own-goal followed by Chico Bunga's strike all in the first five minutes, as Sporting replied early in the second period but it proved too little too late.
