A Kaizer Chiefs development product has called time playing on his playing career to take up an important coaching role in the GladAfrica Championship.
Pretoria Callies confirmed over the weekend that they have parted ways with head coach Joel Masutha and they have since announced that striker Edwin Sitayitayi, who came through the development ranks at Naturena, has retired from football at the age of 29 to take up an interim coaching job at the club.
The club took the player for a coaching course earlier this season and they have now given him the big responsibility of leading the club in a difficult situation. Callies are in 13th place on the GladAfrica Championship standings after 14 matches. They have registered just four victories during this period and they are hoping things can turn around in the near future.
"Zukish is one of the players that played a vital role for us when we participated in the play-offs. His unmatched discipline makes him who he is today. He is such a professional," chairman Moses Malada said in a statement released by Callies on Monday night.
"Other players will do well to emulate him. As the club management, we will support him all the way. We call on the players and the supporters alike to do likewise."
