Orlando Pirates will square up to Tanzanian giants Simba FC in their CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinal first-leg clash on Sunday in Dar es Salaam.
Teams: Simba v Orlando Pirates
Date: 17 April 2022
Venue: Benjamin Mkapa Stadium
Time: 18h00
Pirates did well to make it through a tough group which consisted of Al-Ittihad, JS Saoura and Royal Leopards.
The Buccaneers, unlike Simba, have lifted the Confederation Cup (in 1995). Pirates are on a six-match unbeaten run but were disappointing in a goalless draw with DStv Premiership basement dwellers last time out.
That match was overshadowed by a scary concussion to Paseka Mako after a collision with his goalkeeper Richard Ofori, but thankfully Mako is in stable condition.
The match was called off as a result with both captains agreeing for the final whistle to be blown with Pirates, in particular, not in the right frame of mind.
The Sea Robbers will need to shake off the trauma of the incident quickly if they are to match up to a very competitive Simba side.
Pirates: Ofori, Jele, Maela, Nyauza, Shandu, Ndlovu, Mosele, Monare, Hotto, Dlamini, Peprah
Subs: Mpontshane, Hlatshwayo, Makaringe, Mabaso, Mntambo, Sam, Motshwari, Lorch, Lepasa
