Orlando Pirates will have a chance to book their spot in the quarter-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup when they visit Algerian side Saoura on Sunday evening.
Teams: Saoura v Orlando Pirates
Date: 20 March 2022
Pirates will be switching their focus to qualifying for the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finals after coming from two goals down to beat SuperSport United 3-2 in the domestic league in midweek.
The Buccaneers climbed up to the top of Group B after their 3-0 victory over Royal Leopards last weekend, two points clear of Saoura and Al-Ittihad, who are both tied on seven points and will qualify with a match to spare if they win.
The Algerian outfit, meanwhile, boosted their chances of qualifying after getting the better of Al-Ittihad in their back-to-back matches, as they held the Libyan side to a 1-1 draw away and beat them 1-0 at home to get second spot on a head-to-head rule.
Saoura will need to beat Pirates to stand a better chance of reaching the quarter-finals, as victory will take them to the top of the log ahead of their final group game against Royal Leopards.
The Buccaneers will be a chasing a double over Saoura after securing a 2-0 win in the group stage opener thanks to goals by Happy Jele and Bandile Shandu at Orlando Stadium.
