Zwane recently mentioned Mkhulise alongside Neo Maema and Kaizer Chiefs' Nkosingiphile Ngcobo as three players who can elevate the country to the next level.
However, he has urged his young teammate to become consistent.
Mkhulise has taken advantage of the changes at Sundowns, which saw Rulani Mokwena become the club's head coach, to feature more regularly and now that he is in the starting XI, Zwane has revealed the advice he has given the talented midfielder.
"Last time I was talking to him and said as a player, you need to look at yourself and be honest with yourself. He is playing well, the only thing that is left is to score goals, create more goals and then be consistent," Zwane told the media at the launch of the Philly's Games in Tembisa.
So far this season, the 26-year-old has made nine appearances in all competitions for Sundowns and has managed just two goals.
Sundowns resume their DStv Premiership action on 30 December where they take on Orlando Pirates at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
