Two seasons after joining the Brazilians from Maritzburg United, it appears that Thabiso Kutumela's time at Chloorkop might be nearing its end.
As reported by the Siya crew, interest in the attacker from within the DStv Premiership remains rife, but Sundowns will have the final say in where he plays his football this season.
Speaking to the media ahead of their match against Kaizer Chiefs on Wednesday, Mokwena provided an update on the player's future, confirming the interest in his services although he did not disclose the name of the club.
"This is a very difficult time in the season because I've also got to protect not just my integrity, but the integrity of the club because when I speak, I speak on behalf of the club and so I can't mislead or misinform not just you guys because you've got a responsibility also to inform the public and our supporters and they want to know," said Mokwena.
"But I've also got to manage the situations because transfers are very delicate in the sense that it has to be the player, it has to be the club and the interested party.
"So, with Kutumela, there is interest. But we have to wait because it has to make sense for the player and the player has to be happy. It has to make sense for the mother club and the club has to be happy, and of course, it has to make sense from that perspective for the interested party, so you have to be patient with regards to the transfer of any of the players that are still here," he said.
Last season, Kutumela made a total of 11 appearances in all competitions for Sundowns.
