Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi has opened up on the exit of Lyle Lakay, saying that he would not want to spoil things by talking about things that are not true.
Lakay was sent out on loan to Cape Town City, just days after Sundowns confirmed the arrival of Terrence Mashego from the Citizens.

Lakay revealed in various media interviews that he was not forced to leave Sundowns, but chose to go to the Mother City after he was offered to the Citizens.
"He is still our player, by the way. Just for your information. We released him because we wanted him to get more game-time, because we are looking at our squad and if you have a player of Lyle's age and his game is already affected if you look at how we have started this season… But he has served the club and we are very proud of what he has done for us," Mngqithi told the media at the Sundowns media conference ahead of this weekend's MTN8 clash against Orlando Pirates.

"We are in full support of him pursuing his endeavours to go to Cape Town City because that is also good for the player, to get game-time in that space where Cape Town City is also going to be competing in the Champions League. But we've got an amicable and nice relationship with the boy. I would not want to spoil that by talking things that I know for a fact are not true."
