However, according to reliable sources, Sundowns have opened discussions to renew his contract for a further two years, with an additional one-year option.
"It's actually the club that has initiated these new talks. They have taken a step to make sure that he stays at the club until at least June 2028. But if they exercise the one year option he could stay until June 2028. The new deal they have tabled is a two year contract with one-year option. His current contract runs until June 2026. So it's for the team to be safe and that's why they have even included a one year option on it but the offer is for two straight years and one year option," a source revealed to Siya crew.

It is believed that Sundowns are eager to avoid the uncertainty that nearly saw Kekana leave as a free agent at the start of this season.
"You know it's a matter of once bitten twice shy. They don't want to repeat the same mistake twice and that's how much they value the player. That's why they are making sure that the talks start as early as possible so that at least by the end of the season or the beginning of next season he could have signed a new deal. At least if it could be before December this year then they will be happy. That's their aim," the source added.
The Siya crew reached out to Sundowns for comment, with no response received.
