Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune says they are hurting for letting the "fans and the chairman" down by not winning trophies for nearly eight years.
Chiefs had an overhaul of the squad in the off-season and signed a number of new players, including having a new head coach at the helm, Arthur Zwane.
The Glamour Boys looked to hit the ground running with a new project and the hopes were high that they would finally compete for the silverware on offer.
However, the Naturena-based side were knocked out of the MTN8 in the semi-finals and their league campaign has also not lived up to expectations, as they lost their eighth game of the season against Golden Arrows on Sunday.

Khune says they have accepted that they have "disappointed" the fans as well as the chairman Dr. Kaizer Motaung and each player at the club has to take responsibility going forward.
"We all know when we're signing for Kaizer Chiefs what we're putting ourselves into as players and Kaizer Chiefs is the most successful club in South Africa and we all know that," Khune told the media in a Soweto Derby press conference organised by Vodacom.
"And Kaizer Chiefs is a team that is known for winning trophies every season, we've accepted as players that we've disappointed our fans, our chairman, we've disappointed everyone who has been supporting the club, for the past seven years we have not won any silverware," he said.
The veteran shot-stopper went on to suggest that it feels strange for him not winning trophies at the club, after getting used to the feeling so long.
"And we feel bad to be representing the club and me having been here for so long, I'm not used to that as well. Since I've been promoted in 2004, I've been winning trophies and for the fact that for the past seven years I have not been winning, I feel like I don't belong to the badge, I don't belong to the club," he continued.

"Because Kaizer Chiefs is not a club that goes matches without winning any. Every player that signs for Chiefs he knows his responsibility," he added.
