The foreign quota situation becomes very important, especially in pursuit of strikers or attackers, as it is expected that Amakhosi should look beyond the South African borders for goal-poachers or attack minded players who should make the difference in their young attacking squad.
As things stand, The Glamour Boys have their foreign quota filled, with goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, Inacio Miguel, Edson Castillo and Christian Saile all registered.
Saile could be the first foreign player to free up the spot, as he has been linked with a move to PSL clubs in the current transfer window, either on loan or on a permanent transfer, with Chippa United and SuperSport United believed to be engaging Amakhosi.
Castillo is currently injured and has undergone surgery on a fractured fibula and is expected to be back around March the latest.
The Venezuelan midfielder's contract is coming to an end in June this year and Chiefs will have to make a tough decision on whether they will retain the 30-year old or could find an upgrade, should their target be a foreign player.
Miguel as a vice captain, is expected to stay after he was signed on a three-year contract at the beginning of the season.

As reported by the Siya crew regarding Ntwari, the Soweto giants are believed to be in discussions with Chippa for the swap deal, with the Rwandan proposed to move the opposite direction to goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali.
However, that would not free up a foreign spot, as Nwabali would also have to be registered as a foreign player.
Another player who could free up a foreign berth is Ditlhokwe, who will be eligible to get a South African citizenship at the end of the season, as he will complete five years since he arrived in the country to join SuperSport in January 2020 from Township Rollers
