Why Pitso 'Is The Right Man' For Chiefs

Why Pitso 'Is The Right Man' For Chiefs

Some Kaizer Chiefs legends and supporters are still hoping for Pitso Mosimane to join the club despite him having recently joined a new club.

After so much speculation linking the mentor with a move to Naturena, the UEFA Pro License holder returned to Saudi Arabia to take charge of Abha Club in the country's Pro League.

It is the tactician's second coaching spell in the Middle East, having previously been with Al-Ahli where he did well, including winning promotion.

Having signed a short-term deal with the Saudi outfit, speculation has been rife that the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach would return to Mzansi at the end of the season.

Former Chiefs midfielder Humphrey Mlwane believes that Mosimane would be able to transform Amakhosi to be like the Brazilians in winning trophies.

The Good

Pitso's return to Saudi Arabia

"First of all, I am happy for coach Pitso that he has secured this job because football is nothing without him. Secondly, I think it's the right job for him and there is a big chance of him succeeding in lifting the team up the log. He's got the qualities to do well as he has proved it over and over again before with different clubs in different teams. He will do a good job. We can't judge him on the first few games as that can be deceptive to make you think that you have arrived," said Mlwane.

Mosimane on being linked with Chiefs

"Talking about the reports linking him with Chiefs, I think he would do very well there. This is someone who has proved beyond doubt that he is capable, having done wonders with teams from outside South Africa and that is huge. He has a special gift of being able to lift the spirits of the players and those that he is working with and that is what I think is needed at a big club like Chiefs. I think he would give them a boost in terms of taking the team forward. He is the right man to figure out the strengths and weaknesses of the team. He knows the history of the team through his extensive knowledge of South African football. He knows the right players are needed to play for the club. I hope the club can give him a chance and believe in him and I believe that he can make the club be like Sundowns. There is a foundation that he laid at Sundowns and for the current coach that is more like adding the roof on top of the building and that cannot be difficult to do," he said.

The Bad

"Having said that, I feel that Chiefs and Pirates need to compete with Sundowns in terms of signing top players and in winning trophies. I don't know how competitive they are in terms of their financial muscle, but it's not good for the league when one team is dominating in the league like Sundowns has been," he added.

The Ugly

"If these two teams are struggling to compete with Sundowns in signing quality players, they should make use of their development structures to groom their own players. There are legends of these clubs who are good coaches, and their services can be used to contribute to the development of football in the country," concluded Mlwane.
