The story

Pienaar celebrated his 43rd birthday on Monday, with three of the former Bafana Bafana captain's ex-clubs celebrating the occasion with a trip down memory lane.

'Schillo' represented six clubs throughout his career, with three of them taking to social media to share his best goals, skills and accolades.

Pienaar started his career at Ajax Cape Town (now Cape Town Spurs) before making the switch to Ajax Amsterdam where he debuted as a teenager under Ronald Koeman in 2002.

He went on to make over 100 appearances for the Dutch giants, scoring 18 goals with 22 assists. He also won four out of his five major trophies at Ajax, including two league titles.

Pienaar went onto achieve cult hero status with English Premier League side, Everton FC, where made 229 appearances, scoring 26 goals and making 45 assists across two spells.

He formed healthy on-pitch relationships with Leighton Baines, Marouane Fellaini and Yakubu under the tutelage of David Moyes and featured prominently in a competitive Everton side in the early 2000s.

Blessed with sleek skills, neat finishes and the work ethic to match, Pienaar quickly became one of the best left wingers in the Premier League and is fondly remembered by the Toffees fans till this day.
