Elite Wrist Game: A Look At Messi’s Watch Collection & R4.8m Timepiece

Messi walked away with one of the major awards at last week's The Best FIFA Football awards and his watch on the night added to the prestige of his accolade. 

The Argentine World Cup winner is not only world's best and arguably football's greatest, but also boasts one of the most enviable watch collections.

Let's take a look at the rare watch he wore at the awards and his pricey collection. 

Messi x Patek Phillipe 

One Leo Messi's favourite luxury watch brands is iconic Swiss watch maker, Patek Phillipe.

Messi was crowned the best men's player of 2022 at FIFA's The Best awards after his World Cup heroics with La Albiceleste and just like he did at the Qatari showpiece, he stunned in a classy Patek Phillipe watch at the awards.

Messi wore the Patek Philippe Grand Complication, a pricey watch that's valued at over $259 955 (Est. R4.8 million) according to watchguynyc.com. 

Launched in 2011, this timelessly designed watch features a platinum metal case with a alligator leather strap and hues of green which gives the watch that design classic feel.

Messi's watch collection

As one of the highest earning athletes in the world, it comes as no surprise that Messi possesses an enviable watch collection.

From Rolexes to Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe, and Jacob Co, Messi is one of the best watch collectors in football. 

According to wristenthusiast.com, Messi has a a rose gold Rolex Yacht-Master, which reportedly retails for $28 050 (Around R521 568) but is selling on the secondary market for $32 000 (Around R595 243). 

The PSG star also owns a Rolex Daytona, Datejust and Submariner watches, which sit alongside his Patek Philippe Nautilus watch that's valued at R4.2 million according to Chrono24.co.za. 

Messi used to be an ambassador for Audemars Piguet in 2010 and worked with Jacob Co. afterwards, where he had his own line of watches.
