The story

Jürgen Klopp's love story with the Hout Bay United Football Community Trust (HBUFC) kicked off in 2017 and his commitment to the cause has remained solid since.

Jürgen Klopp is set to host a special evening to honor the Hout Bay United Football Community Trust's decade-long journey. The event, titled "HBUFC meets Jürgen Klopp," will take place on Thursday, 6 March 2025, from 19:00 to 21:00 PM at The Bay Harbour Market in Hout Bay.

This celebration aims to commemorate HBUFC's impact in the Western Cape's football community, while raising essential funds to continue the worthy cause.

As stated on a press release from HBUFC, the event will feature engaging locker room conversations between Klopp and Sizwe Mbebe, as well as guest QA session, a live auction of special edition items hosted by South African actor and comedian Rob van Vuuren, with live music by Ard Matthews also on offer.

The event will be officiated by award-winning media expert and Hout Bay resident, Saskia Falken. Tickets are available from Friday, February 14, 2025, via Quicket. Doors, along with the bar and food stalls, will open at 17:00.

This event is more than just an evening about football; it's a celebration of a tight-nit community that's passionate about giving back.

Hout Bay United Football Community Trust, founded in 2015, has been instrumental in uniting the communities of Hout Bay, uplifting youth through mentorship, and bringing pride to the area through successful football programs.

The club operates 14 teams with around 500 players across all age groups, races, and genders, all exclusively from Hout Bay.

Jürgen Klopp has been a patron of Hout Bay United, supporting their initiatives and community efforts. In November 2017, he hosted a fundraising event at the Bay Harbour Market, raising approximately R300 000 for the club, covering their operating costs for several months.

He's not only donated to the club's children's charity he's also donated kits and helped build a multi-purpose centre that includes a skate park, basketball court, fitness facilities and a netball court.

MultiChoice, in collaboration with Premier Skills, is championing youth development by leveraging the power of football to equip young people with essential life skills, coaching expertise, and leadership training.
