The story
After Mamelodi Sundowns confirmed the signing Jayden Adams on a 3.5 year deal from Stellenbosch FC over the weekend, the young baller has issued a heartening farewell to his now former club.
Sundowns have triumphed over fierce competition from their rivals to secure the services of Adams, who has been with Stellies' senior team since 2020 after advancing from their youth ranks.
During his time with the Cape Winelands outfit, Adams made over 139 appearances for the clyb and played a pivotal role in helping Stellenbosch win the Carling Knockout, as well as qualifying for the CAF Confederations Cup.
His versatility is set to make him a key asset for Sundowns, as he can be deployed in defensive or central midfield roles, as well as in left-wing and attacking midfielder positions.
In his goodbye message to Stellies, Adams took a moment to express his gratitude and to reflect on the memories he created at the club.
"Dear Stellenbosch FC family. As I take the next step in my soccer journey and move on to a new club, I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude to all of you. The memories we've created together on and off the field will stay with me forever," wrote Adams, adding:
"From the first training session to the countless games, the laughs, the challenges, and the growth we shared, I truly appreciate each and every one of you. You've not only helped me improve as a player but have also shown me what it means to be part of a family.
"The dedication, passion, and support that I experienced here are something I will always carry with me," said Adams in an honest reflection, before revealing that he'll always support Stellies.
"Although I'm excited for what's ahead, saying goodbye isn't easy. I'm grateful for the friendships, the lessons, and the unforgettable moments. I'll always cheer for this club, and I'll never forget the time spent here. Wishing you all continued success, both on and off the field," he concluded.
Here's a look at some of Adams' best bits in a Stellies shirt, with a revisit of his most aesthetically pleasing goal for the club and his final goal for them which came in the CAF Confederations Cup against Stade Malien.
