The story
Former Banyana Banyana captain, Janine van Wyk, revealed the latest regarding her and partner Julia Molin's pregnancy journey.
Van Wyk, who led Banyana Banyana to their first World Cup, announced in January that she and her Swedish partner are expecting their first baby.
The retired Van Wyk is Africa's most-capped international footballer (185 caps), and holds multiple roles at JVW FC as co-founder, owner and more recently, head coach, after taking over from Mitch Stevens in February.
The Blue Diamonds' boss announced the news of Molin's pregnancy on Instagram earlier this year and used the same platform to provide an update.
Van Wyk revealed that Molin will be heading to her native Sweden for the baby's birth and reposted images from their maternity shoot to make the announcement.
"Mixed emotions as I say goodbye to my person today. She's off to Sweden to bring our baby boy into the world. Definitely exciting times ahead, but difficult to accept that we will be without each other for a long while,” noted van Wyk, who didn't make it clear whether or not she'll be making the trip to Scandinavia for the baby's birth.
"The pups and I will miss you incredibly much. In just a few weeks, we'll be back together, just in time to meet our precious boy for the first time. Wishing you a safe journey, my love. We love you so much, and we'll be counting down the days until we're all together again," wrote van Wyk.
