Egyptian have now reported that former Bafana tactician Carlos Queiroz is seriously considered for the head coach at Al Ahly, who plan to announce Koller's departure in the next 48 hours.
Queiroz is no stranger to Egyptian football, having managed the national team and took them to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations final, where they lost to Senegal on penalties.
Some of the other names linked with Al Ahly include Jose Gomes and former Borussia Dortmund coach Marco Rose.
Meanwhile, Former Egypt international Ahmed Hassan felt the Swiss coach lost authority among the first team players.
"I can't blame the players, because in my opinion, coach Marcel Koller lost his authority with Al Ahly a long time ago," Hassan said on DMC, as per WinWin.
"He's a coach who doesn't have the courage, and there's another word I can't say on air."
