Mokwena's future at Wydad was in doubt after a string of poor results and the club announced he would be placed on temporary leave until the end of the season.
"The management office of Wydad Athletic Club announces, based on a request from first-team coach Rulani Mokwena, that he has been granted an exceptional leave starting after the team’s next match in the professional league," a club statement said.
The club confirmed that Mokwena's time as head coach will officially end once the 2024/25 season has ended.
"The Wydad Athletic Club management confirms that the contractual relationship with coach Rulani Mokwena will officially end immediately after the end of the professional league season, by mutual agreement between both parties. The club also emphasizes that this decision will not result in any compensation beyond the due monthly wages.
"Accordingly, the club has appointed the national coach Mr. Amin Benhachem to lead the first team during this transitional phase. We extend our sincere thanks to him and wish all members of the team continued success and prosperity.
