The story
When it comes to Masandawana's greatest exports, very few, in any, match up to Cameroonian football legend and former Downs midfielder, Roger Feutmba.
In his recent work with Kasi Flavour10 and Masandawana Fan Vlog creator, Khensani Maluleka, Modiba was photographed wearing Feutmba's number 10 Sundowns jersey from the 1998/99 season.
"If you speak of Mamelodi Sundowns in the late 90's, so many things stand out to a late 80's baby like myself, the first 3 league titles in a row, Rothmans Cup Finals, Raphael Chukwu, Mambush, Lovers, Issac Shai, "Fire" Masilela, Hluphi… The list is endless," wrote Kungwane on Kasi Flavour10's Instagram post.
"But none was as exciting to watch as Roger "The General" Feutmba was. From his silky smooth touches to his masterful left footed passes. We decided to pay homage to an iconic jersey with a current icon in the making," he added.
Nicknamed "The General," Feutmba is regarded as one of the most legendary players to grace South African football. As stated by Mamelodi Sundowns' digital magazine, Feutmba possessed a "wand-like left foot and extraordinary football IQ."
Feutmba joined Sundowns in 1996 from Belgian club KV Kortrijk, bringing with him a wealth of football experience, having been part of the iconic Cameroon squad that reached the quarter-finals of the 1990 FIFA World Cup.
During his time at Downs, Feutmba helped them win three consecutive league titles and pinnacle of his career in Mzansi came when he was named PSL Players' Player of the Season in the 1998/1999 campaign.
