Dylan Kerr Was Very Happy That Gor Mahia Beat SuperSport United

Dylan Kerr, the head coach of Gor Mahia, is proud of knocking SuperSport United out of the CAF Confederation Cup, and the former Arcadia Shepherds defender was happy to be back in South Africa. Kerr, 51, wasn't able to get a win at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday night as they were beaten 2-1 by last year's CCC finalists, but the away goal scored by Francis Kahata was enough to see them secure a spot in the group stages of this year's tournament. We went up against a very determined side in Pretoria and got possibly the most important goal in the history of Gor Mahia. The reception at the airport when we got back was amazing, and the Governor even greeted our arrival. It's the big a thing for Kenyan sport all around, and obviously especially football. "On a personal level, returning to Atteridgeville was amazing. I played there back in the 80s and the fact that many older people still remembered me was brilliant." Mahia, who only got into South Africa the day before the game was due to take place, had somewhat of an underdogs tag given SuperSport's efforts in the competition the year before, but their head coach always had faith that they could get the job done. He said, "Nobody gave us a chance in the Champions League or in the Confederation Cup, but my players listen, and they believe in what I'm trying to do. We are growing as individuals and as a team. "I've always watched SuperSport on TV as I watch the PSL whenever I can. I love South African football, and I like watching talent. Even though SuperSport have had a poor season, they are a good team and, as I said, they have everything we don't. But with 11 players with a mindset to be better, you can do anything." While SuperSport turn their focus to staying in the Absa Premiership, the Kenyans will have their eyes on Saturday's CCC group stage draw.
