Kaizer Chiefs advanced to the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup, despite suffering a 2-1 defeat to Zimamoto in their second leg clash on Tuesday.

Despite netting a hat-trick in the first leg, Khama Biliat was left out of the match day along with Itumeleng Khune.

Virgil Vries was handed a re-call, while Ryan Moon led the attack for the Soweto giants instead of Leonardo Castro, who started on the bench.

However, the first half did not go as planned for the visitors as Zimamoto netted their first goal of the tie in the 43rd minute, with Yussuf Ramadhan Mtuba converting from the penalty spot.

Giovanni Solinas' were still intact to secure a spot in the next round of qualifiers as they lead 4-1 on aggregate thanks to their emphatic first-leg victory.

The Amakhosi were level five minutes after the break courtesy of Lebogang Manyama, who finished off a great pass from Bernard Parker.   Ryan Moon thought he had taken the Amakhosi into the lead after tapping in Parker's pass, but the goal was disallowed because of an infringement inside the box minutes later on.   On the half and hour mark, Siyabonga Ngezana was called in for Eric Mathoho, who had picked up an injury.   Zimamoto were awarded another penalty following yet another infringement inside the box. Mtuba once more made no mistake with an easy finish.   With limited chances created in the final stages, the Tanzanian outfit held on for the victory but it wasn't enough as the Glamour Boys advanced to the next round 5-2 on aggregate.   Chiefs advanced to the next round where they face either Madagascar's Elgeco Plus United or Unidad Malabo of Equatorial Guinea.   Here's how they lined up:   Chiefs: Vries, Cardoso, Mathoho (Ngezana 60'), Hadebe, Ntiya-Ntiya, Ntshangase, Katsande, Ekstein, Parker, Manyama, Moon.

Subs: Bvuma, Ngezana, Maluleka, Zulu, Mahlasela, Zuma, Castro.
