Pitso Mosimane may have won the CAF Champions League with Al Ahly and Mamelodi Sundowns, but the impact he made on the continent while he was at SuperSport United inspired Jwaneng Galaxy's history-making coach Morena Ramoreboli.
Mosimane reached the group stages of the Champions League with SuperSport in 2004, finishing bottom of group B after collecting four points in six matches. It was the first time the club reached that stage of the competition.
Ramoreboli has made history by becoming the first coach to lead Galaxy from Botswana to the Champions League group stages, after beating favourites Simba SC on away goals.
"I have always been following coach Pitso from SuperSport United, where I think I learnt so much from him because he went to the continental tournament and he reached the group stages. If you can check coach Pitso, his journey started there to be where he is today. Sometimes we need to check people and ask what they are doing right and try to see what you should do, so that I can improve as a coach," Ramoreboli tells the Siya crew.
"I have also have a close relationship with coach Molefi Ntseki. We share a lot of things. When you see Molefi Ntseki coaching Bafana Bafana. As someone you know and lived with and shared with, you end up saying it's possible if you believe. You need to believe in yourself. Those are the people who have played an important role in nurturing and developing, directly or indirectly.
"I also can't leave out coach Steve. One thing I can tell you about coach Steve, it's his belief. You speak to coach Steve thinking that he is down. But when you speak to him, you realise that he is the big machine who is there to inspire and encourage others. WEhen you see his journey and things happened and where he is today, you end up realising that the journey is not going to be smooth and you end up understanding that there will be some ups and downs in your career."
Will Bafana Bafana make it to the final round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers?
