The Egyptian side had two goals disallowed in the second period, with former referee Abdel Fattah pleased with the referee's performance and reveals the officials made the right decision with the disallowed goals.
"There were demands from the players," Fattah told WinWin.
"There was no error in the referee's judgment, despite a handball by one of Sundowns' players, because the hand was in a normal position according to the laws of the game. After reviewing the video assistant referees, the decision taken by the main referee was confirmed.
"Regarding the two goals scored by Al Ahly in the 70th and 90+3rd minutes against Sundowns that were disallowed for offside, Abdel Fattah stressed the validity of the referee's decision, confirming that both goals were "illegal", which required the referee to disallow them and return the match to square on.
"The refereeing decisions were clear and accurate, and there were no refereeing problems that could have affected the result of the match. I believe that the refereeing team succeeded in leading the match to safety in a commendable manner."
