Simba SC coach Didier Gomes admits his side showed defensive frailties in their 4-0 defeat to Kaizer Chiefs in their first leg CAF Champions quarterfinal encounter, but he believes his side has what it takes to turn things around against Amakhosi.
Despite being widely regarded as favourites heading into the clash, Simba SC put on a calamitous showing against a rampant Chiefs side who were ruthless in their impressive win at the FNB Stadium last Saturday.
If they are to stand any chance of progressing to the semi-finals of the competition, the Tanzanian giants will have to score five unanswered goals at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Saturday, something their coach believes his side is capable of.
"We have to fight the men, the players, the technical bench, the officials and the fans. We need to know in football everything is possible, and we are preparing to do so," Gomes told the media.
"I admit we did not play well in the first game, especially in the defensive line, but we continue to work on the shortcomings in practice so that we do not repeat them," the coach said.
His sentiments were echoed by charismatic club media officer Hajis Manara, who has come up with the slogan, 'Do or Die Season 2, for the club's passionate supporters ahead of Saturday's clash.
"It's not like we despise Kaizer (Chiefs) but we are a big and good team, but it will be possible if the players are 100 percent committed.
"The Lions don't need to work hard; we have to win and overturn the results to reach the semi-finals.
"Even if we promise the players billions of shillings if they don't send, it will be in vain, so they know they have a lot of work to do and we are behind them," said Manara.
