Pitso Mosimane's Al Ahly dropped points for a second successive match in the CAF Champions League group stages after they were held to a 2-2 draw by AS Vita Club on Saturday evening.
Mosimane made two changes from the last-gasp win over El Gaish, as Aliou Dieng and Walter Bwalya were recalled at the expense of Hamdi Fathi and Mohamed Sherif.
The hosts came close to going ahead in the 12th minute after Badr Benoun delivered a teasing cross inside the box but Magdi Kafsha's header was saved by shot-stopper Simon Omossola.
The Red Devils were fashioning chances and Amr El Soleya almost gave them the lead 12 minutes before the break with a strike from the centre of the box that was saved by Omossola and Bwalya's effort from the rebound hit the post.
Vita somehow came alive in the game in the closing minutes of the first stanza after Makabi Lilepo broke the deadlock with their first real chance at goal just before the break with a low strike inside the box after dribbling past Ayman Ashraf.
After Bwalya squandered a big chance, Mohamed Sherif finally levelled matters for Al Ahly in the 69th minute with a close-range strike after Junior Ajayi hit the post.
Marwan Mohsen completed the turnaround for the Red Devils two minutes later with a strike from close range just minutes after coming on.
However, El Soleya conceded a penalty in the last 11 minutes after a foul on Ricky Sindani, which allowed Sindani to convert from 12 yards to earn his side a share of the spoils.
The two sides are now tied on four points apiece in the group, with Vita taking second spot while the Red Devils remain in third.
