Kaizer Chiefs' success of last season in the CAF Champions League is motivation for their Mzansi topflight counterparts, AmaZulu.
Chiefs went all the way in the Champions League last season and lost in the final against Egyptian giants Al Ahly.
AmaZulu are set to begin their maiden campaign in the continental competition on Friday at the Moses Mabhida Stadium against Nyasa Big Bullets of Malawi.
Benni McCarthy says his team is motivated by Chiefs' success of last season.
"Home advantage always counts massively because if you look at Kaizer Chiefs success last season they were ruthless at home. They were punishing teams when they played at home, and we want to draw inspiration from that. If we can do exactly the same, win your home matches and then when you go away… even if it's not a favourable away match but it's more than what you've done when you played at home," said McCarthy, speaking to the media.
"When you played at home and you secured a good victory and then you can give yourself a fighting chance, and if you lose and lose less than what you've won at home then it secures your passage into the next round. But don't go away thinking that we're going to lose, we are going to fight and then hope for the best," the coach added.
