AmaZulu FC began their CAF Champions League journey with a loss to Nyasa Big Bullets and former PSL defender Phelelani Mpangase believes that the Durban club is not yet ready for the continental stage.
Usuthu kicked off their CAF CL preliminary round against Malawian giants, Nyasa Big Bullets with a 1-0 loss at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Mpangase, who played continental football with Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United, says that despite having a top team under coach Benni McCarthy, there's no way Usuthu will come back with a win in Malawi.
"I strongly believe that CAF Champions League will be a huge task for them, to even qualify (for the) group stages, losing a game against ten men Nyasa Big Bullets proves that they are not really ready for this stage," Mpangase told the Siya crew.
"I don't see them coming back with a win away from home, they might have good players on paper, but CAF Champions League demands more than that and I don't think they showed us that in their first leg," he added.
The return leg takes place this afternoon at 16:00.
