AmaZulu FC coach Benni McCarthy is looking forward to another learning experience with the CAF Champions League group stages draw scheduled to take place today.
This is the first time ever in the history of the club that Usuthu will be competing in the Champions League and after qualifying for the group stages, McCarthy is confident that his side is ready to compete at the highest level.
"Yeah of course it's extremely important you know, hopefully we get a favourable draw, teams that we can learn from by playing against them. It also gives ourselves competitiveness, because we saw against Mamelodi Sundowns the capabilities we have," McCarthy told the media.
"They are top team in the league and the continent, how we were able to handle ourselves - we showed that. So this Champions League will give players an experience of a lifetime and hopefully it will be an experience that they will have every single year so that they can improve."
"It would be good to compete against top teams and coaches in the continent and who knows maybe we can reunite with coach Pitso Mosimane, I'm not saying we are ready for that kind of challenge because they are in a different league with Al Ahly, he is completely different from where we are as AmaZulu."
"Will await the draw, patiently but we also have that excitement, we also have some sort of expectations of what we want to achieve," McCarthy added.
