After an action-packed weekend of continental club football, the 16 teams set to participate in the CAF Champions League group stages have been confirmed.
South Africa will be represented by two clubs in Mamelodi Sundowns and AmaZulu, with Usuthu qualifying for the Last 16 of the contintenal showcase for the first time.
Usuthu coach Benni McCarthy made history by leading the KZN outfit to the round robin phase of Africa's most prestigious competition, at the expense of five-time winners, TP Mazembe.
Usuthu played to a 1-1 draw in Lubumbashi after the first leg in Durban finished goalless. Sundowns, meanwhile, cruised to a 2-0 victory over Maniema Union at Loftus Stadium on Sunday after 2-2 draw in the first leg away from home.
Sundowns and AmaZulu will be joined by group stage regulars such as Pitso Mosimane's Al Ahly, Wydad Casablanca, Esperance and Zamalek.
Jwaneng Galaxy, who are coached by South African mentor Morena Ramoreboli, have also made history by reaching the group stages for the first time. They shocked Tanzanian outfit Simba, knocking them out of the competition on away goals, as the clash finished 3-3 on aggregate.
