Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos says his current job with the national team will be his last before he quits the beautiful game, although he would like to go out with the prestige of qualifying and participating for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Belgian's contract with SAFA comes to an end in 2026 - and that is when he plans to call time on his coaching career, he explained at the FIFA World Cup viewing organized by Worldwide partner Visa.
Before he does, the Belgian, who will be 74 by the time the world spectacle comes around is hoping to have qualified Bafana Bafana for their first World Cup since 2002 - given the fact that they qualified by virtue of being hosts in 2010.
"How many years ago did Bafana Bafana last qualify for a World Cup? Okay, they organized the World Cup in 2010. But I'm sorry that I express myself like this, but this is a present because they were organizing it," he told members of the media.

"The last time they qualified was in 2002. It will be 24 years ago if we qualify, it's a long time.
"So everyone, I think, hopes that we can achieve it. Also, from the team I can assure you that the players will do everything to achieve that and from my side I was in '86 in Mexico with the Belgian team at the World Cup. And once you were there, you won't be there the second or the third and the fourth time so, this is my last job.
"After this I'll stop because I'm 72. I think it's time to stop, but I want to stop with the qualifying for the World Cup. It should be a fantastic end for my career, so again you can be sure that we will do everything but everything to qualify for the United States and Canada in 2026.
"This is my wish. This is something I want to achieve that my contract comes to an end in 2026. And if I can end that with the participation of the World Cup, it should be a fantastic end of my career and it should be a fantastic moment for South African football," he said.
