The 27th edition of the tournament will take place between 22 July and 8 August in Japan, with Brazil set to defend their title.
Fourteen of the 16 teams have already qualified, namely: Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Germany, Romania, France, Egypt, Ivory Coast, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Japan, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa.
Some countries have already announced their preliminary squads, which reportedly include some big names.
On Wednesday, Egypt coach Shawky Gharib revealed that Mohamed Salah has made his initial selection for the tournament.
"Salah is one of the top three players in the world and any team hopes to have a player of his capabilities and skills in the squad... I have chosen Salah in an expanded list of 50 players to select 18 players heading to Tokyo," he said, as quoted by ESPN.
"The final list that will include 18 players will be sent next June, so it is too early to talk about the names of the 18 players."

Egypt are not the only side considering including some big-name overaged players.
Germany, for example, reportedly included Thomas Muller and Mats Hummels in their preliminary squad, while Lukas Podolski also said he was keen on playing in the tournament in Japan.
The former duo were dropped from Germany's senior team by Joachim Low, which would allow them to take part without clashing with the FA's rule that no German star is allowed to play in both the 2020 UEFA European Championship and the Olympics.
Spain could also have some heavyweights in their selection, with Gerard Pique and Andres Iniesta believed to be in the initial squad, while Sergio Ramos also revealed that he would be keen to take part in the tournament.
Defending champions Brazil could potentially count on Neymar once more, with the 28-year-old saying he wants to play in both the Olympics as well as the upcoming Copa America, while his former FC Barcelona teammate, Lionel Messi, could do the same with Argentina.
For France, Kylian Mbappe has expressed his interest in playing at the Olympics, even though it could mean that he would feature in both Euro 2020 and the youth tournament.
South Africa U23 coach David Notoane has suggested that Percy Tau could make his Olympics squad, but it remains to be seen how many overaged players he will eventually invite, and who they will be. Each participating nation is allowed to call up three overaged stars to the U23 tournament, with the final 18-man squads set to be announced in June.

From a timing point of view, the Olympics, the Euros and the Copa America do not clash, with the latter two competitions being played between 12 June and 12 July, meaning they will end 10 days before the start of the Olympics.
However, taking part in both tournaments would put a lot of strain on any player, who would also have no time for any off-season break as the end of the Olympics clash with the beginning of the 2020/21 campaign.
