How many teams are actually in the Absa Premiership title race? The answer could be as many as four as we gear up for a fascinating run-in to the domestic campaign.

With plenty of high-profile league matchups as well as another round of action in the unpredictable Nedbank Cup, here's a look at some of the key matches taking place across the country in March.

We're down to eight teams in the last domestic knockout tournament of the season and Mamelodi Sundowns are the biggest team left. They face a tricky trip to Highlands Park who knocked out Kaizer Chiefs in the previous round.

TS Sporting and Real Kings are the two GladAfrica Championship teams left in the tournament and they will be relishing the chance of pulling off fairytale wins. Both of them are at home for their quarter-finals with TS Sporting hosting Bloemfontein Celtic and Real Kings taking on Bidvest Wits.

The middle of March looks like a key period in the Absa Premiership season with high-profile fixtures taking place midweek as well as on the weekend. Sundowns and Pirates will look to maintain their respective title challenges when they meet at Loftus. Pirates are unbeaten in their last four games against Masandawana with the last meeting ending in a 1-0 win for the Buccaneers.

This game at FNB Stadium could be a defining point in the season for both teams with Kaizer Chiefs having been top of the table for the majority of the campaign while Bidvest Wits have stayed around the top four with fixtures in hand. The Clever Boys have only lost once in their last five meetings with that loss coming the last time these teams met in January last year.

Both teams will have to recover quickly from tough midweek encounters for this Saturday clash at Orlando Stadium. Gavin Hunt's team have already come out on top twice against the Buccaneers this season with a penalty shootout win in the Nedbank Cup and a dramatic 4-3 victory in the Absa Premiership.

One of the many interesting clashes taking place in March will be at the Lucas Moripe Stadium when SuperSport United host Bloemfontein Celtic who are pushing to finish in the top eight for the second season running. Matsatsantsa have had a steady season and they stand a chance of finishing in the top four for the first time in eight years.
