I have been watching a lot of PSL games from the beginning of the season and obviously Kaizer Chiefs have been getting positive results, more than any other club in the first half of the campaign.
Let us be fair now, Chiefs have been getting those results purely because the coach at the club is of a high quality, Chiefs don't have quality players Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates have.
Why are they log leaders?
Coach Ernst Middendorp has been able to use the available players to their strengths for the benefit of the club.
Then why is he not getting the same results? The league competition is getting tougher as it draws towards the end, while his tactics (tactics that are based on the strengths and weaknesses of his players) are becoming predictable ( having been applying them for more games now compared to the beginning of the season), and automatically those tactics are getting less effective.
Coach Middendorp has shown that he is a quality coach over a long period of time and still is doing excellent job at Chiefs, against all odds. Chiefs is still competing for league title and coach Middendorp's intelligence and football brain goes a long way in the team's current state.
Let us support the coach regardless of the results, he is not failing the team. But I think chiefs is somewhat failing the coach with the lack of quality players in certain areas of the field.
