With both Serie A and LaLiga currently suspended, Juventus and FC Barcelona superstars Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have jokingly been urged to join a certain European league where football is still being played.
Amid the coronavirus outbreak that has rocked the world, both the Argentine and Portuguese forwards will be out of action until football and normality resumes in Europe.
However, ex-Barcelona and Arsenal player Alexander Hleb, who retired from football earlier this month, joked in a recent interview that Messi and Ronaldo should take their careers to Belarus, one of the few European countries where life is continuing as normal.
"When the NHL closed the season, a lot of ice hockey players went to Russia to play," he told The Sun.
"Maybe Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo might come to the Belarus league to continue.
"All the world now watches Belarusian league. Everybody should go switch on their TV sets and see us."
Hleb did, however, seem perplexed as to why his country has not yet taken any measures to stop the spread of COVID-19 in Europe.
"It's very difficult to explain our country," he added.
"All leagues have closed but we don't seem to think it's a problem. Why? I don't know."
