Pitso Mosimane's Al Ahly lead the way in the latest CAF ranking for the 2021/22 competition, but where does his former team Mamelodi Sundowns rank?
According to the latest ranking by CAF, which shows the ranking of the last season and a half, it is Mosimane's Al Ahly who lead the way as the continent's top team.
The Red Eagles have won back-to-back CAF Champions League and CAF Super League titles and are on course to complete an unprecedented treble of trophies if they can repeat that feat this year.
They are also currently in first place in the Egyptian Premier League and are fresh off finishing in the third spot at the FIFA Club World Cup.
According to the list, which shows the top 10 teams on the continent, Esperance, Wydad Casablanca and Raja Casablanca follow in second, third and fourth places respectively.
From the PSL, Mamelodi Sundowns, who won the competition in 2016, narrowly miss out on a top-five spot and sit in 6th place on the rankings, although they are ahead of perennial giants TP Mazembe and RS Berkane.
Sundowns and AmaZulu are Mzansi's two representatives in the CAF Champions League this season; while Orlando Pirates are competing in the CAF Confederations Cup.
