Erling Haaland has continued his UEFA Champions League record-breaking spree, displacing Kylian Mbappe for a new milestone, something that earned the Norwegian high praise from Pep Guardiola.

Three days after becoming the fastest player to reach 50 Premier League goals, Haaland accomplished another goalscoring feat, this time on the continental stage.
His strike in Manchester City's 3-2 win over RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Tuesday night not only ensured the Mancunians stayed at the top of their group, but that the Leeds-born attacker also became the youngest-ever player to reach 40 goals in the tournament's history at 23 years and 130 days, displacing the France captain in the process.
The ex-Borussia Dortmund man also annihilated Ruud van Nistelrooy's record for the fastest player to reach 40 competition goals as it only took him 35 matches compared to the Dutchman's 45 games.
When asked about the prolific forward's latest feat, Guardiola had nothing but good things to say.
"Again? I have to tell you again?" Guardiola told reporters after their match. "A thousand million times, I'm really impressed. They won today. Another record. Congratulations. He's a fantastic player. I tell you many times, we're really, really pleased.
"We love him, not just for the goals he scores, but for many, many other things."
Haaland's goal was the catalyst for the Citizens to pull off a stunning comeback against the Bundesliga side, and the Spanish tactician added that he hoped his players were able to learn from the fight-back.

"To win in that game not comfortably, to realise, to put in front of the mirror and say, 'We have to do better,'" Guardiola continued.
"But February [the round of 16], we'll be there top of the group. I don't know who we're going to face, but the second leg will be [at home] and we showed again that we are able to make a comeback."
