The Gunners waited a long time to beat the Citizens in England's top division earlier this month as they claimed a 1-0 victory over their rivals, with Gabriel Martinelli's second-half deflected strike the difference in what was a tight game.
The feisty encounter ended with City's Kyle Walker and Erling Haaland getting involved in a spat with a member of Arteta's coaching staff, and the league champions falling two points behind Arsenal on the table.
Speaking recently about the match on a podcast, Arteta reflected on the result and his relationship with Guardiola, whom he worked under in Manchester as an assistant coach, revealing that his ex-colleague complimented his team.
"Yeah, I talked with him [Guardiola] after the game," he told the Men In Blazers podcast.
"It's always like this, it's very tense, it's very emotional, a lot is going on in that moment, but after that, the relationship remains intact.
"I lost much more than I won against him but, to be fair, in the last two games when we won the Community Shield and now in the league, the feeling is totally different. [He said] 'Congratulations, you guys are a terrific team'."
While City take on Brighton Hove Albion, Arsenal will go up against London rivals Chelsea this weekend in the Premier League.
