Reports suggest that Paul Pogba's brother, Mathias, is one of four men who have been taken into custody in an alleged blackmail scheme against the former Manchester United midfielder.
Pogba's FIFA World Cup Fate Revealed?
According to the Daily Mirror, the 29-year-old Juventus star has accused his brother Mathias of being involved in a group trying to extort him, accusations Mathias has previously denied.
Pogba, it is understood, told police that childhood friends and his brother have plotted to blackmail him out of £11 million (R261.9 million) and that this plan against him started as far back as 2013 when they demanded money for protection services.
Last month, Mathias released a video on social media in which he said he was going expose his brother, as well as secrets about Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe.
It was later suggested that Mathias, also a professional footballer, was going to reveal information that proved his younger sibling had tried to place a curse on Mbappe, who has since publicly stated that he trusts his France colleague and not what has been said by his sibling.
According to French publication Le Monde, police confirmed they have opened an investigation into Mathias and the group he is allegedly involved with.
It is said the 32-year-old has since been placed in police custody as authorities continue to probe into the matter.
